III. Minutes—approved for March 23 and April 6.
IV. Treasurer's Report and Membership
J. Maki: noted to state ICPE that some members are not receiving e-mail newsletter. Sent full e-mail list so they can check their records. JM has given St. Mark’s $30 in appreciation for use of room and has re-registered us as corporation.
J. Maki will get quotes for two kinds of insurance (boards & directors and liability).
V. Other Reports
A. State ICPE Board of Directors
Debbie Fish sent report by e-mail: Joel Hand thanked legislators for including the foundation increase in the budget. Opportunities for savings: reinstating the 7.5 million cap on vouchers and not including an automatic escalator. ICPE supports keeping a tax cap on vouchers and including the voucher cost as a line item in the budget. ICPE does not support an increase in the per-child amount for charters. ICPE wants the SBOE not to be funded so highly.
Cathy will forward Joel’s report to the list.
B. Communications and Web Site
C. Programs
Debrief on April 6: “Whole Child, Healthy Child: Helping Kids Thrive in School.” Great panel. CATS has not put it up online yet.
Debrief on April 12, Children’s Expo booth. Sofia McDowell: we got lots of names, 20 people signed up.
May: Event on testing (POST MEETING UPDATE: this event is postponed till fall)
D. Action Groups
E. Political News
F. Farmer’s Market
D. Maki: We need bumper stickers, buttons, petition to sign. We need materials to attract kids. Also, want to move back to old space (#15). People are looking for us there.
VII. New Business
VIII. Other
L. Shanks: Cathy Fuentes Rohwer was a guest speaker on social media at the League of Women Voters convention. The League approved a statewide study on public education. They are taking up the question of whether the elected superintendent of public instruction should be chair of the state board of education.
Respectfully submitted,
Jenny Robinson
