INDIANA COALITION FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION PRESENTS COMMUNITY CONVERSATION FEATURING TEACHER VOICES
Six public school teachers will discuss the rewards and challenges of their work
Bloomington, Indiana--While non-educators continue to drive much of Indiana's education policy, an event this week will give our community a chance to hear from the teachers whose classrooms feel the effect of policy changes. "Let's Hear Teacher Voices: A Community Conversation" will feature a panel discussion by local educators on Thursday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Bloomington City Hall Council Chambers.
Six public school teachers will engage in a conversation about their professional lives. We'll hear what they love about their jobs, what kinds of support would help them achieve their goals, and their perspectives on how their profession has changed over the years.
Participants will include Megan Sommers Glenn, a kindergarten teacher at Marlin Elementary School; Ben Strawn, a third grade teacher at Summit Elementary School; Erika Peek, a fifth grade teacher at Summit; Kathleen Mills, a journalism instructor at Bloomington High School South; Greg Chaffin, a guidance counselor at Bloomington High School North; and Kathy Loser, the librarian at North.
Audience members will be invited to ask questions after the panel presentation.
This event is sponsored by the Indiana Coalition for Public Education--Monroe County and South Central Indiana (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Monroe-County-Coalition-Public-Education/374573205902510).
