Seven Oaks board meeting, May 18, 2018
Present: Terry English, Ian Hall, Stephen Shipp, Jazzmin Vegeler, Lindsey Weaver, Matt Wolf
* Executive session held during previous meeting to discuss board training with outside consultant.
*Letter of Engagement for auditor is due in July.
*Academics: One Step results were not in at the time of meeting. Math scores: grades 3-9 may exceed projected growth of national average.
*Enrollment currently at 330, possibly increasing to 337 by beginning of school year. Early estimate submitted to DOE was 290 students.
*Staff: Hiring 1st & 2nd grades teacher and possibly 4th & 6th grades.
Still searching for an assistant headmaster.
Interviewing upper school humanities teacher.
*Financial report: nothing discussed.
*Preschool committee: Unclear if demand justifies preschool.
*Current main issue: broken air conditioner. Costs of replacing cooler tower could be upwards of $160,000 with a possible rebate. Replacing the entire ventilation system could possibly cost $750,000-$1 million. At the time of the meeting they had $80,00 line of credit @ Owen County State Bank. They will apply for an increase.
